Hydrogen sulfide, and many VOC’s, create odours, are corrosive, cause air pollution and are detrimental to health. Mónafil™ is a patented biofiltration system that uses special media as a capture and support medium offering excellent removal efficiencies for odours, VOC’s, sulfur and nitrogen-based compounds. The properties of the manufactured granular high-density peat media have proven to be a key factor in achieving high performance removal and media life up to 10 years. Mónafil™ has been successfully used in odour control applications for more than 20 years. Mónashell™ The Mónashell™ biofiltration system is a proven and cost-effective alternative to chemical scrubbing or carbon adsorption, designed like a biotrickling system yet incorporating many benefits of traditional biofilters. The shell-based media is sustainable and renewable with the ability to maintain a neutral pH within the biofilter. This ensures optimal odour performance across a broad range of odour producing compounds, while simplifying operation and enhancing system reliability. Control of odour-causing compounds emitted from wastewater and industrial treatment processes has become a growing area of concern. As populations grow and housing encroaches on once-remote treatment facilities, the importance of effective, yet simple odour control technology will continue to increase. In addition, odourous compounds can be corrosive to equipment requiring ventilation to extend equipment life and reduce capital replacement expenditure. Mónasorb™ Control of hydrogen sulfide and VOCs is a concern in many wastewater treatment, composting and industrial plants. Hydrogen sulfide, and many VOC’s, create odours, are corrosive, cause air pollution and are detrimental to health. Mónasorb™ is a range of Carbon Filter systems that uses activated carbon, impregnated carbon as a capture and support medium, offering excellent removal efficiencies for odours, VOC’s, sulfur and nitrogen-based compounds. Our carbon units may be used as a standalone filter or as a polishing filter for a Mónashell™ OCU’s for even greater levels of treatment.

    Greenbank Group logo

    Greenbank Group

    United Kingdom

A specialist engineering company with a global customer base. Greenbank provides a wide range of products and services to companies operating across a number of industries and is now establishing itself in the clean and wastewater sector. For many years the company has utilised the unique properties of volcanic basalt for lining products used in heavy industries such as power generation and minerals extraction. In partnership with Czech firm Eutit, the company has also been pioneering the use of basalt in the renovation and restoration of sewer systems in central European following a series of successful projects in Prague. As a result of devastating floods, the city’s sewer system was extensively rebuilt and upgraded with basalt being used in a number of key locations to provide a new level of security to the system. More than a decade on, the new system continues to perform well and has set a standard that’s now been followed in other European cities. Well suited for the most demanding of applications, thanks to the partnership between Greenbank and Eutit, a wide range of basalt solutions are now available in the UK market. These include products and systems that bring a wide range of benefits to the industry, including: Basalt tiles that can also be used to line existing brickwork, a more cost-effective solution than full replacement, and their reduced drag co-efficient means improved flow – in effect a smaller-diameter pipe or tunnel lined with basalt can carry a higher volume of water than a larger one with traditional brick surfaces. The effective life expectancy of basalt-lined sewer systems is between 100 and 200 years, thanks to their excellent resistance to abrasion and chemical damage – as well as the rigours of high-pressure water jetting that’s often used to clear unwanted blockages. For larger round or ovoid systems, basalt can be used in the lower sections to deal with the wear and tear with concrete upper sections to provide optimum life performance. Alternatively, steel pipes lined with basalt can be produced up to 3000mm diameter producing a lighter therefore lower cost installation option to thick wall concrete. Ease of installation and reduced maintenance costs make basalt ideal for bottom gutters, branch pipes and tubes and slip-resistant elements for walkways, and Greenbank can also supply bespoke-shaped tiles to meet the unique requirements of individual clients. With manufacturing facilities in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, supported by the additional capacity and expertise provided by the latest addition to the group, Franklyn Yates Engineering, Greenbank is well placed to react quickly and efficiently to the needs of new and existing clients.

    Nereda logo

    Nereda

    United Kingdom

Nereda® technology from Royal HaskoningDHV offers sustainable wastewater treatment solutions for municipal and industrial water. The natural sewage treatment process purifies water with minimal or no chemical usage by using the patented aerobic granular sludge technology. Compared to activated sludge technologies, the biological treatment power of the technology is much larger, while saving up to 50% on energy costs, delivering high quality effluent for low costs and requiring only a quarter of the area of conventional activated sludge installations. Biomass in the process develops as fast settling aerobic granular sludge. These granules have excellent settling properties, so the process does not require a separate time-consuming decant phase like conventional SBR’s. All the biological treatment processes take place simultaneously in the granules, requiring only one tank. The technology is very versatile; it can be developed as a new build or used to retrofit existing conventional CAS or SBR plants. The benefits of the technology include: Excellent treatment results and settling properties: Compared to activated sludge technologies, the biological treatment power of the technology is much larger as a considerably higher concentration of biological active mass is applied that in addition has a much higher content of microorganism that are crucial for biological nitrogen and phosphate removal. Sustainable: Compared to conventional wastewater treatment processes, the technology not only has significantly lower energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emission, but also produces, commonly without the use of waste generating chemicals, a remarkably high effluent quality. Cost effective: The technology results in construction costs that are lower than for conventional technology as for example, tank volumes are up to four times smaller and less equipment is required. Small physical footprint: Its footprint at sewage treatment plants is reduced due to the full nutrient removal process taking place in one single reactor. Easy to operate: It has proved in operation to satisfy the most stringent purification requirements. Thanks to the nature of the technology, plant operation is easy and process performance robust. The technology is proven and applicable for even the largest applications. Currently, there are over 70 wastewater treatment plants in operation or under construction all over the world
